I don't want to be one of those girls, Mischa Barton says of DUI shame

Mischa Barton, the 22-year-old "OC" starlet who was arrested for DUI back in December, has opened up about the entire ordeal.

"That was a low point for me. I never, ever would have thought I would be arrested," the actress told Nylon magazine. Barton was put on probation for three years, ordered to attend a three-month alcohol education program and fined $1,652 as a result of her drunk driving conviction.

"I was disappointed because it associated me with a group of girls that I would rather not be associated with," Barton continued, "They made such a big deal out of it with these other young actresses, that, for a little bit, I wanted to crawl into a hole and die."

The actress, who currently lives in Paris, admitted it was a "stupid thing to do," but also felt that she has "done a lot to pay back" for her mistake.

Barton also confirmed rumors that she had been offered a role on the hit series "Gossip Girl," but turned it down, she said, because she had just finished "The OC."

"Why would I want to go back on another series that is exactly the same?" she said. As for the future, Barton mentioned she would be interested in college for "the learning."

Actress Mischa Barton gets probation on drunk driving charge, pot charge dismissed

London-born teen idol Mischa Barton was sentenced to three years probation in LA after pleading no contest to drink driving charges following her arrest in December last year, court officials said.

The 22-year-old former "The O.C." star did not appear at a brief hearing in Beverly Hills where she also received a 2,000-dollar fine and was ordered to attend a three-month alcohol-education class.

Drug possession charges against the actress were dismissed after Barton's plea deal, court officials said.

Barton had been caught in possession of marijuana when she was arrested in Hollywood on December 27 after police spotted her driving erratically.

"Mischa's glad the case has been resolved," lawyer Anthony Salerno said after the hearing, praising prosecutors in the case as "very fair."

Though best known for hit teen television show "The O.C.," Barton's film credits include cameos in hit movies "The Sixth Sense" and "Notting Hill."

Mischa Barton will accept plea in drunk driving case

Actress Mischa Barton, who starred on television drama "The O.C.," has agreed to serve three years probation for drunken driving, allowing her to avoid jail and escape a charge for marijuana possession, according to a report on People.com.

The celebrity news Web site cited an unnamed source as saying Barton will plead no contest, which is similar to a guilty plea, pay a small fine and attend three months of an alcohol education class.

One charge of marijuana possession will be dropped and another charge of driving without a license will be reduced to a traffic violation, according to People.com.

The plea is expected to be entered at an arraignment set for Thursday. More >>

Mischa Barton charged with DUI, possession of marijuana

Mischa Barton, who on “The O.C.” played a wealthy teenager in idyllic Orange County, got a dose of reality Tuesday when she was charged with four misdemeanors related to a drinking and driving arrest last year.

The former star of “The O.C.” was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI), driving while having a 0.08 percent or higher blood alcohol level (BAC), driving without a valid license and possession of 28.5 grams or less of marijuana, according to court papers.

In a statement, Barton attorney Anthony V. Salerno said he was pleased his client was only charged with misdemeanors.

Mischa Barton takes responsibility for driving under the influence

Now, isn't this refreshing? Mischa Barton is actually taking responsibility for her DUI instead of placing the blame on someone else. The O.C. star is admitting she made a mistake on December 27th when she was pulled over behind the wheel and intoxicated. She spoke with Ryan Seacrest this morning on his radio show and gave her side of the story. Mischa Barton said, as quoted by E!, "Obviously, I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case, and I'm really disappointed in myself. I don't know what to say about it except I'm not perfect. I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again."

The stupidity that Mischa speaks of happened on the night of the 27th when the star was heading home from a night out with friends. She was pulled over in West Hollywood in her white Range Rover and was not only over the legal limit but driving without a license. Barton said, "It was the end of the night, and I just wanted to get my car home. I usually try not to get behind the wheel."

Barton was also in possession of marijuana and an as-yet-unrevealed controlled substance, a subject that apparently didn't come up on Ryan Seacrest this morning. They did note that Mischa Barton was very cooperative when she was arrested and spent seven hours behind bars before posting bail. Mischa Barton will be arraigned on February 28th.

MADD is mad at Jack Osbourne's comment, Mischa Barton DWI arrest "no big deal"

MADD has slammed Jack Osbourne for describing Mischa Barton's DUI arrest as "no big deal".

Barton was booked for driving under the influence, possession of illegal narcotics and driving without a valid licence in West Hollywood in the early hours of December 27.

Osbourne shrugged off the incident, saying: "Everyone gets DUIs... but you only hear about it when celebrities get them. It is a big deal but it's not a big deal, just a slap on the wrist."

MADD lashed out at Osbourne for playing down the importance of behaving responsibly.

Campaigner Chuck Hurley (a FADD?) said in response, "Drunk driving is not a rite of passage but it does seem as though some high profile celebrities in Hollywood and in professional sports think it is.

Mischa Barton smoked marijuana before DUI arrest

West Hollywood, CA

Actress Mischa Barton had been smoking marijuana when she was arrested by police for driving under the influence on Thursday morning, according to reports.

The former "The O.C." star was pulled over by West Hollywood cops in the early hours of Thursday when she was spotted straddling two lanes of traffic. She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, but was also booked for possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended license.

And the 21-year-old, who scored a 0.12 on a breathalyser test, was also found to have marijuana on her person, as well as prescription drugs which were not in her name.
