‘Eagle Eye’ star Shia LaBeouf will not face DUI charges in a July car accident that crushed his hand. The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office announced that no charges will be filed against the actor due to “insufficient evidence.”“After reviewing the case, we’ve declined to file any charges due to insufficient evidence,” said DA spokeswoman Jane Robison.
LaBeouf and his ‘Transformers 2’ co-star Isabel Lucas were involved in an accident with another vehicle in the early morning hours of July 27. The 22-year-old suffered injuries to his head, hand and knee. Lucas and the driver of the other vehicle were not injured.
After the crash, LaBeouf was cited with misdemeanor DUI. Since he refused to take a blood alcohol test after the accident, he will face possible suspension of his driver’s license.
“When and individual refuses to take a blood alcohol test, that person’s license is automatically suspended for six to nine months,” says sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Prosecutors will file criminal charges against the other driver, who caused the accident by running a red light.
