I don't want to be one of those girls, Mischa Barton says of DUI shame

Mischa Barton, the 22-year-old "OC" starlet who was arrested for DUI back in December, has opened up about the entire ordeal.

"That was a low point for me. I never, ever would have thought I would be arrested," the actress told Nylon magazine. Barton was put on probation for three years, ordered to attend a three-month alcohol education program and fined $1,652 as a result of her drunk driving conviction.

"I was disappointed because it associated me with a group of girls that I would rather not be associated with," Barton continued, "They made such a big deal out of it with these other young actresses, that, for a little bit, I wanted to crawl into a hole and die."

The actress, who currently lives in Paris, admitted it was a "stupid thing to do," but also felt that she has "done a lot to pay back" for her mistake.

Barton also confirmed rumors that she had been offered a role on the hit series "Gossip Girl," but turned it down, she said, because she had just finished "The OC."

"Why would I want to go back on another series that is exactly the same?" she said. As for the future, Barton mentioned she would be interested in college for "the learning."
