A husband is speaking out after a former New York Yankees star is charged with manslaughter in a car crash that killed a mother of two.

Fredia Veitch's family said her Friday morning drive home from work would have been one of her last, since she planned on quitting her job to focus on being a mom.

But at 3 a.m., Veitch was traveling through an intersection on a green light when, police allege, former Yankee Jim Leyritz drove through a red light and hit her SUV.

Police charged Leyritz, a Davie resident, with manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon was arrested early Friday morning for investigation of DUI and driving with a suspended license -- his second alcohol-related arrest in King County this year.

Moon, who was the 1978 Rose Bowl MVP while at the University of Washington, was driving on state Route 520 about 2:10 a.m. when he was stopped by Medina police.

Lt. Dan Yourkoski said Moon was stopped "because of issues with his driving," and was released by the Kirkland Police Department later Friday. Yourkoski did not say whether police measured Moon's breath-alcohol content.

A message left at Moon's home Friday evening was not returned.

Moon, 51, was arrested April 6 after a State Patrol trooper stopped his blue Chevrolet SUV in downtown Kirkland and reported smelling "a very strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle." More >>

Actress Mischa Barton had been smoking marijuana when she was arrested by police for driving under the influence on Thursday morning, according to reports.

The former "The O.C." star was pulled over by West Hollywood cops in the early hours of Thursday when she was spotted straddling two lanes of traffic. She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, but was also booked for possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended license.

And the 21-year-old, who scored a 0.12 on a breathalyser test, was also found to have marijuana on her person, as well as prescription drugs which were not in her name.

Former Yankee Jim Leyritz was arrested Friday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and being involved in a crash that left one person dead, police said.

Fort Lauderdale police said Leyritz hit another car at an intersection early Friday morning. The passenger in the other car was ejected and died at the scene, police said.

Leyritz, 44, of Plantation, Fla., refused to take a breathalyzer test, police said.

Actress Rebecca De Mornay was charged Thursday with misdemeanor drunken driving stemming from her arrest two months ago.
A Los Angeles District Attorney's spokeswoman said De Mornay was charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of .08.
De Mornay, 48, was arrested Oct. 30 for a traffic violation in Beverly Hills when officers smelled alcohol on her breath. She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. More >>

Add Mischa Barton to the ever growing list of celebrity DUI mugshot photos that now are readily available on the world wide web. From Paris Hilton to Lindsay Lohan to Mel Gibson, they all are now looking good for the LA County booking photo camera. As mug shots go, Mischa's isn't all that bad, especially since it was likely snapped at about six in the morning.

According to a police report released Thursday, Barton has been arrested for DUI, possession of illegal narcotics, and driving without a valid license. It has been reported that the actress, 21, was pulled over and arrested at about 3 a.m. this morning in West Hollywood. More >>
